Slumdog... Who cares?

Alright. So yes the film is amazing, and Blah blah blah... But the fact that Slumdog Millionaire was CO-directed by a Female Indian director and there was no recognition of her is kind of appalling. Let me just say that if Slumdog was directed by an Indian director and written by an Indian writer, and not marketed as a film by Danny Boyle, the film would have had very minimal recognition. The same is to say with films like The Color Purple, Dreamgirls, etc, and other films that are about people of color but are under the ranks of white directors and writers. Am I wrong to say that American Cinema can only accept these films only because famous white directors and writers run them. I mean when was the last time Best Director and Best Original Screenplay was won by someone that wasn't white? Alright well, since this is my first blog I'm gonna cut it right here. There is more to come from the Krazy G.
